Money in the Bank isn't just a typical ladder match.
Not only does it involve 8 wrestlers. It also involves a shot at the highly coveted briefcase that enables a wrestler to challenge (at any time of his choice) for any title that he chooses.
The Raw brand is being represented by CM Punk, Kofi Kingston and Kane. ECW is being represented by Mark Henry, Christian, and Finlay. Smackdown is sending Shelton Benjamin and MVP into the Money in the Bank match.
Each have their own chances at winning the match (and a push). Let's take a look at each wrestler.
Christian Chances: Great
Christian's return to WWE has been lackluster thus far. The excuse that is being given is that the company was forced to change things up once the original plans were leaked to the internet. If WWE wanted to make it up to Christian and capitalize on his popularity, then having him win the Money in the Bank would be a good start. It would also silence all the people who are upset with WWE for not viewing him as a main event wrestler.
CM Punk Chances: Good | ||
CM Punk has won the Money in the Bank match before, so it's not entirely impossible to imagine him winning it again. Management really dropped the ball on his push after he won the World Heavyweight Championship. Having him winning the match again would be a good way to help him regain momentum.
MVP Chances: Good | ||
MVP has spent the last year losing every single amount of momentum that he had built up. WWE has shown signs that they want to start pushing him again. If they're really serious about pushing him into the main event, then the Money in the Bank match would be the start of that push.
Kane Chances: Moderate
With Kane coming close to the end of his career, it would be nice to see him get one last main event push. That would be the only reason why WWE would allow Kane to win the Money in the Bank match. However, it's highly unlikely that WWE will go this route.
Kofi Kingston Chances: Moderate
Kofi Kingston would be an interesting choice as the winner of the Money in the Bank match. If WWE really wanted to swerve fans, then this is the route that they're going to go with. However, they might be a bit more conservative. This is a good chance for Kofi Kingston to have a memorable moment, though.
Finlay Chances: Poor | ||
Finlay doesn't have much of a chance of winning this thing. He's only being placed in the match as a reward for his hard work. He's a good in-ring worker, and he can provide leadership and guidance in the match.
Shelton Benjamin Chances: Poor
Shelton Benjamin has been in all but one of the Money in the Bank matches. He really doesn't have much of a chance of winning. WWE only puts him in there in hopes that he pulls off a high spot.
Mark Henry Chances: Poor
A lot of fans were pretty puzzled and disappointed when Mark Henry was entered into the Money in the Bank. More people are going to be disappointed if he does win the match. It doesn't seem like Mark Henry is in line for a push, so you can probably put those fears to rest. |
Closing Thoughts
My money is on Christian. Vince McMahon might not like him, but the rest of the company does. Hopefully, they can convince Vince McMahon to do the right thing here.
